About elamirror®

From the world stage to your living room.

elamirror® is a German brand of frameless mirrors. This technology has been on display at trade shows and in showrooms for about 30 years. We’ve taken it out of the trade show hall and turned it into a mirror that one person can hang up on their own.

The Story

A lake, a move, an exhibition hall.

In 1835, Justus von Liebig silvered a glass pane for the first time. Since then, a mirror has remained the same: heavy, fragile, and dependent on a wall to support it. Nearly 200 years without any real innovation.

But it's not the glass that reflects light. It's a wafer-thin layer of metal behind it. The pane of glass in front mainly contributes two things: weight and shards.

Daniel and Kristian founded elamirror®. Daniel explains how it all came about.

The Lake

The reflective surface of the lake
Question

How did it all start?

Daniel, Co-founder

With water. I grew up by the lake. On calm mornings, the water lies there like a mirror—smooth and unbroken. That image has never left me.

Question

And the moment when the image became an idea?

Daniel, Co-founder

A move. A friend had a glass mirror—two by two meters—for his home gym. Kristian and I carried it down from the third floor. It took an hour, left our fingers bleeding, and involved a lot of swearing.

One thing was clear: No one can solve this problem with better glass.

Question

So you guys invented the glassless mirror?

Daniel, Co-founder

No. It's been around for about 30 years. At trade shows, in showrooms, and on stages, specialists stretch mirror film over frames. Huge surfaces, no shards, and almost no weight.

But here's the thing: That happens on-site, with tools and experts, for a few days at a trade show. That wasn't an option for your living room.

Question

What did you do differently?

Daniel, Co-founder

We turned the exhibition wall into a product. Fully assembled, shipped in a box, and hung by a single person. No installer, no glazier, no second person needed.

Your Living Room

Large elamirror® mirror wall
Question

What's inside an elamirror®?

elamirror®

A four-layer HD film stretched over an aluminum frame using a patented process. No glass, no backing plate.

The result: about 2 kg/m² instead of 10 to 15 kg/m² for glass (standard market figures). One reflection instead of two, because there’s no pane of glass in front of it. Fog-free. And if something falls on it, nothing shatters.

Question

Who would go to such lengths?

elamirror®

Over 10,000 customers so far. Tenants in city apartments, parents with young children, people with home gyms in their basements. Plus dance schools, fitness centers, riding stables, and photo studios.

All for the same reason: They wanted a large mirror without the drawbacks of glass.

Question

And why would anyone carry a mirror like that to the top of a mountain?

Daniel, Co-founder

Because claims are cheap.

March 2025, Hohe Tauern

Meters above sea level. With the mirror on my back.

Europe's highest mirror selfie.

Daniel carried an elamirror® in his backpack up to a 3,400-meter peak in Austria. Climbing sections, ridges, crampons. Starting at 3,200 meters, the mirror became a sail in the wind.

Above: hung from a boulder with carabiners, a selfie, no filter. The mirror came back without a crack or a crease.

  • Elevation: 3,400 m, Hohe Tauern, Austria
  • Luggage: An elamirror® on your back
  • Challenges: Rocks, ice, and strong gusts of wind along the ridge
  • Result: Unharmed
