Mirrored wall for the gym. No glass. No shards.

In the free-weight area, things are bound to fall at some point. So we reinvented the mirror—this time without glass. It’s up to ten times lighter and distortion-free.

As individual elements joined together or as a continuous surface without joints.

Does that look like glass?

Mirrored Wall

The mirrored wall at the turf track looks like glass in every photo. The film is taut and sturdy. The reflection is crystal clear, and black appears even clearer in our dark studio than it does on glass, because there is no double image. As an alternative to laminated safety glass, elamirror is ideal for us—the film is extremely durable.

Elamirror’s glassless mirrors are a real asset for us in competitive sports and on the national team. They’re extremely lightweight, quick to move, and easy for young athletes to handle. Even if they happen to tip over, there’s no risk of shattering—making them ideal for indoor facilities. We use the mirrors every day.

The Elamirror is amazing! I was worried about hanging such large mirrors with just the two of us—but my worries were completely unfounded. It’s super lightweight, takes just minutes to install, is shatterproof, and easy to clean. It offers a perfect view and is a real eye-catcher in the dance studio. Our customers love it!🪩

The Mirror of the Future

The mirrored wall that eliminates the need for glass.

The problem with a glass mirror isn't the mirror itself. It's the glass: 20 kg per square meter, special installation, and if it breaks, it won't just cost you the pane—it'll cost you the class.

The Surface

Plastic sounds fragile. Well, go ahead and touch it.

The top layer is a protective coating designed for everyday studio use: hands, towels, that one extra bump. It absorbs impacts instead of passing them on and deflects scratches. When you press against it, the surface gives way briefly and immediately returns to its flat state.

  • Scratch-resistant Run your fingernail over it—no trace
  • Shock-absorbing Impacts are absorbed, and the surface springs back
  • Easy to care for Glass cleaner and a cloth, just like with the old mirror

Physics

Glass reflects twice. We reflect once.

In a glass mirror, the reflective coating is located behind the glass. The light is refracted, and the surface also acts as a mirror: two images, slightly offset.

With elamirror®, there's no glass in front of it. One path, one image.

In my classes, everyone corrects their posture in the mirror. The old one was pulled to the side, so straight backs looked crooked. Now everyone's alignment is correct on every mat.

Old brickwork, and we wanted everything to stay in one piece. Glass would have weighed a good 200 kilos on those old mortar joints. Our mirror was mounted on site; the wall doesn't feel a thing.

The Problem with Glass

The glass in the gym isn't a mirror. It's a liability issue.

Liability Risk

A falling disc, a missed wall ball—hundreds of blades on a crowded course. It's your responsibility.

Weight & Installation

Mirror Film Surface

Before you ask

What gym owners want to know beforehand.

The questions we get most often from studios. Short answers, without the sales pitch.

What happens if a dumbbell falls on it?

Nothing gets in the way of play. The surface is splinter-free; there are no shards of glass and no risk of cuts. During a normal training impact, nothing happens; however, if subjected to brute force, the film may tear. But it never shatters.

That's the key difference from a glass mirror: broken glass on the training area constitutes a liability issue, and the area is closed off until a replacement arrives.

Our wall isn't completely straight. Does that distort the reflection?

No. The surface is stretched over a self-supporting aluminum frame and does not rest against the wall. The frame defines the plane, not the plaster behind it.

With glass, that is exactly why the distorting mirror effect occurs: Even just two to three millimeters of unevenness is enough for the pane to curve and make the image appear wavy. Anyone who tries to check their knee position this way is checking the wrong line.

How is it installed, and do we need a professional to do it?

One person, no substructure, no crane. The panels weigh about 2 kg per square meter, so a 120 × 200 cm panel weighs less than 5 kg. By comparison, a glass pane of this size weighs around 30 to 50 kg, depending on its thickness, and requires two people plus a vacuum lifter.

It is delivered fully assembled.

How do you clean the mirror?

Just like any other mirror: glass cleaner and a soft cloth. The surface is scratch-resistant; a fingernail won't leave a mark.

What not to use: scouring cream, brushes, pot scrubbers, and anything with abrasive particles. Any coated surface will take a hit from these—including this one. Just tell your cleaning person that, and the matter is settled.

How long does delivery to the studio take?

Standard sizes are in stock and are shipped via a freight carrier. The exact delivery time will appear in the calculator once your area has been calculated, since it depends on the size and destination.

Deliveries are made to the curb. Let us know in advance if no one will be there during the day, and we'll arrange a time slot.

What if something arrives damaged?

Report it, take photos, and request a replacement. We’ll cover any damage that occurs during shipping—not you. The only important thing is that you note the damage on the waybill when you receive the package and send us photos.

The surface cannot break in this process. In practice, this affects frames and edges.
