The Surface
Plastic sounds fragile. Well, go ahead and touch it.
The top layer is a protective coating designed for everyday use in class: hands on the surface, kids on the surface, that one extra bump. It absorbs impacts instead of passing them on, and lets scratches roll right off. If you press against it, the surface gives way briefly and immediately returns to its flat shape.

Glass reflects twice. We reflect once.
In a glass mirror, the reflective coating is located behind the glass. The light is refracted, and the surface also acts as a mirror: two images, slightly offset.

The Problem with Glass
The glass in the hall is not a mirror. It is an item in the hazard assessment.
Anyone who operates a gym checks annually to ensure that the walls, light fixtures, and glass panels are safe. A glass mirror is on this list.
Shatterproof up to 2 m
The walls of a hall must be smooth, solid, and shatter-free up to a height of 2 meters. Glass is not. A surface without glass cannot shatter at all.
Safe Schools, DGUV, Impact Protection in GymsSupervision and Liability
In school sports and children's gymnastics, teachers, coaches, and the sponsoring organization are responsible for ensuring that the facility is safe. Broken glass constitutes a documented accident.
Weight on an Old Wall
About 49 kg per glass pane, often on a wall from the 1970s. Anchoring, structural engineering, outside contractor. 2 kg/m² doesn't require any of that.
Failure
A broken window means the gym is closed, physical education classes are rescheduled, and a replacement must be procured. Without the glass, this situation wouldn't exist.

Can we order on account?
Yes. Download the quote from the computer and send it, along with your order number, to info@elamirror.de. We’ll process the order and confirm it via email. Once the order is delivered, you’ll receive the invoice with payment terms. No prepayment, no credit card, no customer account. The billing address and shipping address may differ—for example, between the school district and the school. Upon request, we’ll issue the invoice as an XRechnung. If you prefer to order directly from the online store, you can pay there as usual.
Do we need to issue a request for proposals for this?
That is up to your contracting authority. A mirrored wall typically falls well below the thresholds for direct awards, which were significantly raised in most federal states in 2026. All you need is a quote for your records. You can download it here immediately as a PDF.
Are there grants available for clubs?
In many federal states, the state sports associations subsidize the purchase of durable sports equipment, often covering 20 to 30 percent of the cost. The application must be submitted before the purchase, along with a quote and a description of the equipment. We provide both. After delivery, you will receive the invoice for the proof of use.
Is that allowed in a gym?
Hall walls must be shatterproof up to a height of 2 m. Our flooring contains no glass and cannot shatter. Whether your hall also requires ball-impact resistance in accordance with DIN 18032-3 depends on its intended use. Please contact us before placing your order; we will clarify this with you and provide documentation for the risk assessment.
Do students scratch the surface?
The top layer is scratch-resistant; a fingernail won’t leave a mark, and fingerprints can be removed with glass cleaner. It can withstand impacts; while brute force can tear the film, it will never shatter. What won’t work: abrasive cleaners and brushes. Just tell the cleaning company that, and the matter is settled.
Who will do the installation, and do we need to hire an outside contractor?
One person, no substructure required. A 120 × 200 cm panel weighs less than 5 kg and is mounted using the angle bracket system—even on drywall. A maintenance worker or training instructor can set it up in an afternoon. It is delivered fully covered; nothing needs to be cut or glued on site.
The hall belongs to the municipality. We are not allowed to drill there.
Then choose the version on casters: 180 cm high, no dowels required, and easy to roll back into the equipment room after your workout. Starting at €299 per mirror. If you’re allowed to use the wall, hang the panels on the mounting system and take them down again as needed.
When will it be delivered, and is delivery possible during the holidays?
Standard sizes are in stock and are shipped via a freight carrier, delivered to the curb. The freight carrier will coordinate a time window with your contact person. If you let us know when someone will be on site when you place your order, we’ll schedule the delivery for your vacation or the day your building manager is on duty.
What if something arrives damaged?
Report, take photos, request a replacement. We are responsible for any damage incurred during shipping. It is important to make a note on the waybill upon receipt. The surface itself cannot break; in practice, it is the frame and edges that are affected.
