Why No Glass? The Benefits
Shatterproof | No glass
The elamirror is the ideal alternative to conventional laminated safety glass mirrors—without compromising on quality or reflectivity. Thanks to state-of-the-art, patented nano-film, it is completely shatterproof and splinter-free, even under heavy use in gyms, dance studios, or at home.
Light as a feather: 2 kg/m²
Weighing just 2 kg per m², the mirror is up to 10 times lighter than a conventional glass mirror. Its light weight makes it particularly easy to transport, quick to install, and flexible to reposition.
Does not fog up
Thanks to its revolutionary nano-coating, the elamirror® remains virtually fog-free even in the presence of steam or moisture. No more fog—for a clear view, anytime, anywhere.
Distortion-free reflection
Our nano-film provides a crystal-clear, distortion-free reflection. Since the reflective layer is located directly on the surface and there is no glass in front of it, there is less light loss due to refraction, absorption, or scattering—making the reflection appear brighter and clearer.

Mirrored Wall
I love my Elamirrors so much because they're super easy to transport and I can use them for my photos in the studio—whether as a regular mirror, a background, or even a surface. They're also really big and very practical. Even if a child were to knock them over, I wouldn't have to worry.

Why elamirror
Four reasons why glass looks old.
01
Shatterproof: no glass
Patented Nano-Film · Laminated Glass Alternative
The mirrored surface consists of a stretched HD film mounted on an aluminum frame. It cannot break or shatter. Whether it’s falling dumbbells, jumping, or ball games—the surface holds up.
02
Light as a feather
2 kg/m² · 90% lighter than glass
A 4-mm-thick sheet of glass. A 120 × 200 panel weighs 4.8 kg instead of about 24. No heavy-duty anchors, no stud framing—even on drywall.
03
Crystal clear
Plan-optical · sharp at the edges
The reflective layer is on the surface, not behind glass. One image instead of two. Thermally tensioned, so it’s flat all the way to the edge.
04
Does not fog up
No Problem with Steam & Heat
Nano-coating, no power outlet. Hot yoga, HIIT, twenty people at 26 degrees.
The Proof
It looks like glass. It doesn't behave like glass.

LOCATIONS
Five rooms where glass has no place.
From 120 cm to over 7 meters wide. Frameless, mounted on the wall or on casters.

Joints extend into the floor and wall. A panel weighing 2 kg/m² can handle this without the fasteners becoming an issue.

Sports Mirror at the Gym
If you want mirrors in the free-weight area, you'll end up with laminated safety glass. It's heavy, expensive, and requires two people to install. Or you can just go with a glass-free surface.

Adjustments are made to the nearest centimeter. An image without a double outline shows the posture as it is—right down to the last Reformer.
Shatterproof

Twenty people, the door closed, 26 degrees. The mirror is the only thing in the room that isn't sweating.

Two brackets at the bottom support the weight, and two at the top hold the edge in place. The brackets are screwed into the wall and the aluminum frame; the mirror surface remains untouched. No special installer required—you can do it yourself.

Screw on the brackets. Two at the bottom, two at the top. Only into the wall, never into the mirror.
02
Slide the mirror into place. Insert it from the front between the brackets until it lies flush against the wall.
03
Screw it to the frame. Insert one screw from the top and one from the bottom through the bracket into the frame.
04
Supports at the bottom, holds at the top. 18 mm deep, flush with the wall; the surface remains undamaged.

Through temperature, not adhesive. The HD film is placed over the aluminum frame and, using a patented process, is successively exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. As a result, it contracts evenly in every direction, lies perfectly flat, and only then takes on a mirror-like appearance.
That’s what sets it apart from anything you can build yourself. A piece of film that’s been glued on remains just a piece of film on a panel and reveals every unevenness beneath it. A thermally tensioned surface has no substrate to reflect. It stands freely within the frame, held in place by its own tension.
Why is the image brighter and sharper than with glass?
Because the reflective layer is on the front, not the back. In a glass mirror, it’s behind the glass. The light has to pass through the glass twice, and a small portion is already reflected back at the front. This creates the faint second outline—the double image—and, with thick glass, a slight green tint.
With elamirror®, the reflective layer is on the surface. One layer, one image, no intermediate layer. The larger the size, the more noticeable the difference.
Does a mirror without glass distort the image?
No. The surface isn't resting on any surface, so it can't reflect one. It follows the frame, not the wall. A ruler held in front of the mirror stays straight.
The difference from acrylic: A plastic sheet warps over time and becomes wavy in large formats. A tensioned surface does not.
Is this a mirror film that you stick on?
No. Self-adhesive mirror film from the home improvement store is applied to a wall or panel and conforms to any unevenness. That's why it creates a "fairground" effect.
The elamirror® is a ready-to-use mirror: The patented HD film is thermally stretched over an 18-mm aluminum frame, which is when it becomes reflective. It does not come into contact with any surface. The mirror is hung, not glued.
What exactly is an elamirror® made of?
Four layers of HD film, thermally stretched over an 18-mm-deep aluminum frame. No glass, no backing board, no adhesive layer facing the surface.
Weight per unit area: 2 kg/m². A 120 × 200 cm panel weighs 4.8 kg. The surface also features a nano-coating to prevent fogging.
Does the excitement fade over time?
No. The film isn't simply cooled during the stretching process. It is subjected to extreme heat and extreme cold in succession. The patented process prevents any residual movement in the surface.
Whatever happens to the temperature in the room later on, it has already been experienced at the studio. Whether it's hot yoga at 28 degrees or an unheated basement in winter: the intensity remains the same.
Can I trim the mirror?
No. The mirror effect is caused by thermal stress in the frame. A cut releases this stress, and the surface loses its flatness.
We therefore manufacture custom sizes directly to the desired dimensions, up to 3 m in width without any seams.
Can the mirror break or shatter?
No, it doesn't contain any glass. With glass mirrors, a distinction is made between single-pane glass, tempered glass (ESG), and laminated safety glass (VSG): Tempered glass shatters into dull crumbs, while laminated safety glass holds the shards together with an interlayer. Both are designed to minimize damage.
The elamirror® has no glass layer that could shatter. That's why it's found in gyms, daycare centers, and children's rooms.
How much does an elamirror® weigh?
2 kg/m². A 120 × 200 cm panel weighs 4.8 kg; a front panel consisting of six panels weighs about 29 kg.
A glass mirror made of 4-mm float glass weighs about 10 kg/m², or roughly 24 kg for the same size. This is a standard market estimate.
Will a large mirror stay on a drywall wall?
Yes. A 120 × 200 cm panel weighs 4.8 kg and is suspended at four points. Hollow-wall anchors in the panel are sufficient; no framing is needed.
For comparison: A glass mirror of the same size weighs about 24 kg. Manufacturers recommend securing mirrors weighing 20 kg or more to the stud frame.
Do I need to drill?
For wall mounting: four holes per unit, 6 mm in diameter. Anchors, screws, brackets, and a level are included; the brackets are pre-assembled.
The version on casters requires no holes in the wall at all. There are magnets on the ceiling mount.
At what height should you hang a mirror?
For a full-length mirror, position it so that the top edge is about 15 cm above eye level—in practice, 160 to 180 cm above the floor.
In dance studios, the bottom edge is usually set 30 to 40 cm above the floor so that the footwork stays in the frame.
Does the mirror fog up in the bathroom or in the classroom?
No. The nano-coating keeps the surface clear even when exposed to steam and temperature changes—without a power connection or heating film. Hot yoga, HIIT, twenty people at 26 degrees.
How do I clean the mirror?
Use a soft microfiber cloth and a standard glass cleaner, just like you would for a regular mirror.
No abrasive cleaners, no scratchy sponges, no blades.
How delicate is the surface?
More durable than acrylic. You can run your fingernail across the surface without leaving a mark. That's exactly where acrylic mirrors fall short: plastic picks up every ring and every zipper.
When cleaning, however, the rule is: use a soft cloth, no abrasive cleaners, and no scratchy sponges.
When will it be delivered?
We ship within 10 business days of receiving your order. Custom sizes are made to order; the lead time is listed in the configurator.
How is the mirror shipped?
Use a specialized shipping company, not a regular package delivery service. A two-meter mirror won't make it through a sorting facility.
Items are transported upright, never flat. Stacking them flat causes bruising; when transported upright, the surface arrives just as it did when it left the factory.
How long do I have to return an item?
30-day money-back guarantee, in addition to the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. Returns within Germany are free of charge.

Installation Instructions
With two people, you can install one panel in 10 minutes.
1. Attach four brackets to the frame using the included screws. Nothing sticks out.
2. Use a level, mark four points, and drill 6 mm holes.
3. Insert the anchors and tighten the screws.
4. Place the panel in position and align it sideways using the slotted hole.
Holds to drywall, concrete, brick, and wood. For drywall, we recommend cavity wall anchors. A 120 × 200 cm panel weighs 4.8 kg; a glass mirror of the same size weighs about 24 kg.
