"A well-hung mirror is more than just an eye-catcher—it adds depth and elegance to your room. But how do you mount it securely on the wall?"

1. Preparation: The Right Tools and Materials

Before you get started, make sure you have everything you need ready:

  • Drill (suitable for your wall type: concrete, drywall, or brick)

  • Anchors and screws (suitable for the weight of the mirror)

  • Spirit level (to make sure the mirror hangs straight)

  • Pencil (for marking the drill holes)

  • Tape measure (for precise measurements)

  • Vacuum cleaner or tape (to catch drill dust)

2. Determine the perfect position for the mirror

✔ Hold the mirror in the desired position and lightly mark the top corners with a pencil.

✔ Measure the mounting holes on the back of the mirror and mark the measurements on the wall.

✔ Use a level to make sure the drill holes are perfectly aligned.

3. The right mounting solution for your wall

Depending on the type of wall, you'll need different anchors:

🏠 Concrete or brick walls: Standard plastic anchors are suitable for these surfaces, or heavy-duty anchors for larger mirrors.

🏡 Drywall walls: Use special cavity wall anchors or metal expansion anchors to ensure the mirror stays securely in place.

4. Drilling holes – here’s how to do it right

✔ Place the drill against the marked spots and carefully drill into the wall.

✔ The drill hole should be slightly longer than the dowels to ensure a secure hold.

✔ Hold the drill as straight as possible so that the screws don't end up crooked.

✔ Vacuum up the drill dust as you go, or place a sheet of paper with painter's tape underneath to keep the area clean.

5. Securely attach the mirror

✅ Insert the dowels into the drilled holes and tighten the screws until they stick out slightly.

✅ Carefully hang the mirror and use a level to check that it's hanging straight.

✅ If your mirror has mounting brackets or eyelets, hang it on the screws or hooks.

🎯 Tip: If you're unsure whether the screws can support the weight, test them first with a load test.

Alternatively: Hanging a mirror without drilling

If you don't feel like drilling, there are alternatives! The elamirror full-length mirror , for example, can be hung just like a painting without damaging the wall. Special mounting adhesives, adhesive tapes, or hanging rails also offer a drill-free solution for light to medium-weight mirrors.

No matter which method you choose—with these tips, your mirror will hang securely and stylishly on the wall!

❓ FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kind of anchors do I need for a heavy mirror?

For heavy mirrors on concrete or brick walls, heavy-duty anchors are the best choice. For drywall, you should use metal expansion anchors or cavity wall anchors.

2. How can I keep my mirror from wobbling?

Make sure to use a level and don't tighten the screws too much or leave them too loose. You might want to attach felt pads to the back of the mirror to even out any unevenness.

3. Can I securely mount a mirror without drilling?

Yes! There are strong mounting adhesives, mirror mounting tapes, and hanging strips that let you mount a mirror without drilling—especially for light to medium-weight mirrors.

4. How high should I hang my mirror?

That depends on the intended use. A full-length mirror should be mounted so that it starts at least 30 cm above the floor. A wall mirror above a dresser or sink should be centered at about eye level.
